How Entrepreneurship is Like Climbing a 14er

Tim and I have made it a goal of ours to hike at least one 14er a year. I wasn’t sure if we were going to get one in during 2018, but luckily, my parents were able to watch the kids and the weather cooperated. Plans were made and we hopped in the van with all our hiking gear and headed for Mt. Bierstadt. This is the last one of the easy five 14ers we wanted to do before tackling more technically challenging summits. The hike went well. I only felt like I might lose my fingers once, and for the most part, we kept a good pace and had a great time talking about life. We got our Christmas lists figured out, planned several family adventures, and reconnected after months of chaos and busyness

The Fear of Succeeding

I have many demons. This probably doesn’t surprise you one bit. We all have them. We are’s a given! A new one popped up recently and it was rather shocking. It was a devilish demon I didn’t even know existed, but now that I’ve spent some time with it, I am starting to understand it’s subtle deviousness and longevity. This guy is not new, but he’s often hard to recognize. I bring you….. The Fear of Success. Sounds weird, right? Many of you might be thinking…”I would LOVE to have some success to be afraid of!” It might sound rather strange, but it is definitely a real thing. It will keep you up at night, cause panic attacks, disrupt your work patterns, it can paralyze you.
