"Dance" 6 x 6

"Dance" 6 x 6

I never took ballet or jazz.  I have absolutely no "moves" whatsoever.  But when I was little, I would prance around the living room at least 30 minutes a day to get my blood sugar down after a snack or meal (type 1 diabetics, you know what I'm talking about).  I would dress up and dance/perform to the Beach Boys, Amy Grant, and the Back Street Boys.   (I wasn't picky).  While there was a "reason" behind the activity, I didn't care that much about that.  I just loved how it made me feel.   Like I said, I had no moves, but no one was watching and I certainly didn't care.

This "Dance" word illustration is meant to capture that same boldness and self-confidence that I carried as a little girl.  Strutting around the living room like I owned the place, not trying to impress or be anything more than I was.   THAT'S how I want to carry myself these days.  I'm getting there.  It's funny how 40 is kind of like cycling back to 7 just with a little more gray hair and a few more stories.

This 6" x 6" original artwork is created using paper collage, acrylic and colored pencil on hardboard panel.  "Dance" is sealed with an acrylic varnish and comes framed in a simple black frame, wired and ready to display.
