Red Mountain Open Space located in Larimer County, CO is a beautiful area filled with streams, open, rolling hills and these canyon areas that you see in this painting.  As I hiked in this area, rather than feeling suffocated by the closeness of the rock walls, I felt sheltered, comforted.  They created barriers to the wind and the sun.  The collage materials for this piece includes local maps, icons associated with hiking and nature and documents about the history of Red Mountain Open Space.

16" x 20" Paper collage and oil on cradled panel.  Collage materials wrap around the edges to create a finished look that doesn't require framing.  Finished with a matte, archival varnish.  Wired and ready to hang.
