20 x 16 original mixed media painting created with paper collage and oil paint on cradled panel.
If I were facing this particular scene, I would turn around. It looks impossible. But then I started thinking about how my Point (God) is really good at making the impossible, possible; creating pathways through impossible circumstances....opening up seas, using trumpets to bring down walls, using death to save the world.... This also had me thinking about something I came across while reading Nehemiah....the Festival of Booths, which is a Hebrew tradition where people would create temporary shelters on their house roofs to commemorate God's rescue from Egypt and His provision in the wilderness. What would happen if I looked at the impossible through the eyes of a child that didn't see it as overwhelming, but as a chance to follow my Father on an adventure that would eventually result in roof top fort building? I believe the world would like vastly different.
Perhaps a little closer to heaven....
"But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
